Jarvis Goes Back-to-Back, Punches Ticket to Augusta

Yellow Square2026-03-024 min read

22-year-old South African wins his national Open a week after Kenya triumph, earning Masters and Open Championship invites.

Casey Jarvis is going to Augusta.

The 22-year-old South African capped off a remarkable fortnight on the DP World Tour by winning the Investec South African Open at Stellenbosch Golf Club, just seven days after claiming his maiden Tour victory at the Kenya Open. The back-to-back wins earn Jarvis spots in both the Masters and The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale—the first time the SA Open winner has received a Masters invite.

"I feel on top of the world in this moment," an emotional Jarvis said. "It's my dream as a kid to play at Augusta. I thought about it in the morning—it's hard not to think about it."

Jarvis Takes Control Early

Starting the final round with a one-shot lead, Jarvis left nothing to chance. He holed a 40-footer for birdie on the opening hole, then hit his approach to two feet on No. 4 for another birdie. By the time he made the turn, he had stretched his lead to three.

Hennie du Plessis made a late push, trimming the deficit to two playing the 18th. But a closing bogey dropped him into a three-way tie for second at 11-under with Francesco Laporta and Frederic Lacroix.

Jarvis finished at 14-under, three clear of the field.

Final Leaderboard

1. Casey Jarvis (-14) T2. Hennie du Plessis (-11) T2. Francesco Laporta (-11) T2. Frederic Lacroix (-11) 5. Eddie Pepperell (-10) T6. Daniel van Tonder (-8) T6. Haydn Porteous (-8) T6. Adrian Otaegui (-8)

Historic South African Season

Jarvis becomes the second South African to win back-to-back on the DP World Tour this season. Jayden Schaper accomplished the same feat at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and Mauritius Open in December.

The win moves Jarvis to third in the Race to Dubai standings and inside the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. At 22, he's now won twice in two weeks and has two major championship appearances locked in.

"I just had a slight feeling at the start of the week that something crazy was going to happen," Jarvis said. "There's so many good memories of this event. Brandon Stone, who's a good friend of mine—I watched him win the SA Open when I was about 10 years old."

Du Plessis Heartbreak

Du Plessis, who set the course record with a 63 on Friday, was the main challenger throughout the final round. His closing bogey proved costly—not just for the title, but for an Open Championship spot. The three exemptions went to Jarvis, Laporta, and Lacroix based on world ranking, leaving du Plessis on the outside looking in.

Other Notables

Patrick Reed, who leads the Race to Dubai, shot a final-round 68 to finish T29. The former Masters champion never found his footing at Stellenbosch.

Eddie Pepperell posted the low round of the day with a bogey-free 64 to climb into solo fifth at 10-under.

Ewen Ferguson finished T10 at 7-under, a solid week for the Scot.

The Takeaway

Jarvis's rise has been meteoric. A missed cut at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 was his only major championship experience. Now he'll walk the grounds at Augusta National and Royal Birkdale in the same year.

South African golf is thriving. Between Schaper's back-to-back wins in December and Jarvis doing the same in February/March, the Sunshine Tour pipeline is producing stars at an unprecedented rate.

The DP World Tour heads to the Middle East next for the Qatar Masters.
